| Overview |
The property is located in an archipelago of some 70 small and
large islands in Northern Scotland. A representative site exists
on the island of Mainland, consisting of Neolithic (3000-2000
BCE) chambered tombs, ceremonial stone circles with diameters
of 44 m and 104 m, and a stone-built settlement. The site bears
outstanding testimony to the high level of Neolithic cultures of
Northern Europe. |
