| Description |
Discover the history and culture of Oshima and its relationship to the sacred island of Okinoshima at the Oshima Koryukan (Oshima Cultural Center). QR codes on display panels provide English explanations. To view them, open your smartphone’s camera or QR code reader and point it at the code. A link will appear on your screen. Tap it to open the page. Internet access is required to view the content, so please ensure your device is connected. Free internet access is available through Munakata Free Wi-Fi. To connect, select the network “Munakata_Free_Wi-Fi” in your device’s Wi-Fi settings, then register with your email address or a social media account. The Cultural Center introduces the deep connection between Oshima and Okinoshima, which strictly limits access. Displays trace Oshima’s role as a guardian and gateway to Okinoshima, referencing artifacts that illustrate the ancient rituals once performed there. On the first floor is a room showing a short film featuring island residents expressing their thoughts toward Okinoshima (with English subtitles). The second floor presents information on Oshima’s history and culture, while the third floor is a workspace with views of the sea. |
